Considered one of the world’s 10-fastest growing cities, Nay Pyi Taw became the new capital of Myanmar in November 2005 and hasn’t stopped growing ever since. Today, the city is a center of government, commerce and business, as well as a developing tourist destination with a variety of local attractions and activities available for visitors to experience.
In 2013 Nay Pyi Taw was the host of the 27th Southeast Asian Games, as well as the 22nd World Economic Forum with representatives from 55 nations in attendance. Nay Pyi Taw also hosts a semi-annual Gem Emporium attended by gems and jewelry merchants from around the world.
